Back to School Letter!
Hello Students and Parents,
I am so excited to be back in the classroom with the best kids on the planet! 5th grade really is the best and we are going on a new adventure together this year!
I am so excited to be back in the classroom with the best kids on the planet! 5th grade really is the best and we are going on a new adventure together this year!
Let me introduce myself. My name is Angie Kreitzer. I grew up in Parowan, moved away for college and eventually ended up back in Iron County here in Cedar City. My husband and 3 boys absolutely love it here! We live on the wrong side of the tracks but I am very good at cheering for all things Canyon View as long as you’re okay with cheering for the Cedar side if only just for one kid (my sophomore Landon) when it’s basketball season. I’ve been in the education profession for 14 years. I have held many titles including Title One Coordinator, Principal, Academic Director but my most favorite is TEACHER! This will be my second year back in the classroom and I truly love TEACHING! I have a moto that we play as hard as we work and believe it’s very important that kids want to be here in order to foster of love of learning.
Team Teaching!
This year, we are doing things a little bit differently in order to better meet the needs of all our students. I will be team teaching with Mrs. Jones and feel so incredibly lucky to be getting to work so closely with her! She is an exceptional teacher and just so fun.
I will be teaching all of the Language Arts core and social students and she will be teaching Math and Science. This will look a lot like the dual language classes where students will spend ½ day in my class and ½ day with Mrs. Jones.
Students will have a colored basket in their desks in both classrooms. So they will leave their supplies for my class in the LIME GREEN basket in my classroom and their Math and Science supplies in the LIME GREEN basket in the desk in Mrs. Jones’ classroom. They will take their pencil box with them in their backpacks and transport that between classrooms.

Language Arts:
We will be working hard on developing our reading and writing skills while also finding things we love to read and find interesting to write about to make it as engaging and interesting as possible!

Social Studies:
We will be integrating our American History Social Studies core throughout our Language Arts curriculum. It’s a really fun Social Studies core with a lot of cool things to dive deep into. We will be digging into Social Studies concepts on Friday and utilizing our reading and writing skills to do some project based learning, you’re going to love it!

Science:
(from Mrs. Jones)
I try to integrate hands-on as much as I can when I teach. I know I learn better when I can actually DO, not just sit and listen to a lecture. Fridays will be SCI-FRI! We won’t do any math on Fridays, just our hands-on sometimes messy science labs.

Math:
(from Mrs. Jones)
I try to carve out 30 minutes after the math lesson for the kids to do their math homework in class with me there to help. If they are on-task and working, they should not have to bring math homework home.
